Tango Festival on October 12th. to 14th., 2007, in Helsingborg

Here is a sample of photos taken at the tango festival of dancers, music listeners, and other people
attending the great festival. Most of the photos are taken by Jörgen Lindh.

In October it was 10 years ago that the tango association Tangorama was established, so there was a good reason to celebrate it with a tango festival during one weekend on October 12-14 including workshops, milongas and dance shows with skilled professional dancers. The whole arrangement took place at Folkets Hus in Helsingborg, a place that has one of the best dance floor in the region.

The detailed festival program was presented on this web page, with a possibility to select different workshops.

Professional dancers and workshops

Two professional couples participated in the festival with workshops and shows. The first couple was Paul Utter and Maria Ingstad from the Tango Academia in Malmö, a couple who is very well known for dancers in the region. The second couple was Jonatan Froehlich and Monica Parra from Argentina, a young and exciting couple.

No good Tango Festival without good DJs! We could listen to Klas Thulin on October  12th, and Jorge Monras from Copenhagen on October 13th, which meant that it was a suitable and exciting tango music both the evenings.

“Tangokollektivet” from Malmö played on the Friday evening, not only classical tangos, even Swedish tangos were played by the orchestra.

The Danish trio CheTango played at the festival on the October 13, Saturday night. The group consists of Patricio Moya, piano, Astrid Høier, violin and Signe Gjesing on contrabass.

The festival was a success in many ways. From an organizational perspective everything functioned very well. The working group that has been planning the tango festival since spring 2007 has made an incredible work, foreseeing all details. Thus everything run smoothly during the festival. From a musical/dance perspective it can be summarized that all the guests that come to the festival seemed to be satisfied with the tango festival. Many guests expressed their sympathy for the fine tango music and the fantastic dance floor. Finally it can be stated that from a marketing view we succeeded in sending out our message about the festival in newspapers and other media. You may say, that Tangorama now - after ten years existence - finally got a decent attention from the community and that the association now is well-established  in the region.
