"Puente Viejo", is the old bridge of La Boca, which is a symbol for Buenos Aires as much as "El Obelisco", the Obelisk. Even if it is not working anymore as a bridge, inhabitants of La Boca didn't want the government to turn it down. Closer to it, there is another one which also cross the "Riachuelo" river.
In 1899 this metallic lift bridge, which allowed the ships passage, was starting to building up, to replace a very old wooden one which was lost in 1884 by a river flood. Itīs opening was in 1903 and was on duty untill 1931, when it was built a second one.
