The Children's Republic depends on the Municipality of the city of La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires. It is located in the General Belgrano way and street number 501 in locality of Gonnet.

The construction began in 1949 on a project of the architects Lima, Cuenca and Rooster, and on November 26th, 1951 remained inaugurated.

Those years, Walt Disney visited the place and surprised by its beauty it was inspired for to construct later Disneylandia, in California.

This magic infantile world was created by order of Eva Perón to the Governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Mr. Merchante, in order to the children to take contact with the functioning of the basic institutions that govern a democratic country.

In his walk replies are in the architecture and furniture of castles, oriental palaces, chapel and public buildings.The building of "Banco Infantil" (Children's Bank), placed opposite to the main square, Square San Martín, is a reply
of the Ducal Palace of Venice; next to there, there is another construction, the Palace of Culture, been inspired by Taj Mahal of Agra, in India, where there is the International Museum of the Dolls.

The Legislature been inspired by the English Parliament, lodges the enclosures of the Houses of Representatives and Senators of the Infantile Government of the Republic.

A big place with games faces to the Courthouse with its Room of Hearing, offices and in the subsoil a small jail.

Out of this sector constructions are located as the Stadium, the House of the Child, the buildings of the Navy, Army, Aeronautics, the Amphitheatre, the Railway Station and the Farm, all surrounded by a big park with grove. In the lake there is a steam ship, and you can rent ships to oar or to pedal.
