On March 24th. 2009, in Buenos Aires, they started the festivities of the Bicentennial, with a Megashow near the Obelisk in 9 de Julio Avenue.

It was the first of a large program of events which will be held until March 25th., 2010, when it will be the Bicentennial of the First Local Government, independent from Spain.

A multitude gave itself appointment at the evening in the surroundings of the Plaza de la República (Square of the Republic), enough time before 8:00 p.m., which was programmed time for the beginning of the spectacle. An enormous stage had been mounted looking towards the South, accompanied by two giant TV screens. Up to there they came families, young and elder people. A "batucada" of drums and live music of the group "La Bomba del Tiempo" (The Time Bomb) gave the starting signal.
